As a San Diego wedding photographer, I get to shoot at some pretty incredible venues, but River Garden Weddings & Events in Vista has a special kind of magic. It’s that perfect mix of hidden-oasis vibes and effortless elegance.

A Fall Color Palette That Felt Right at Home


I recently had the honor of capturing Maddie and Tim’s fall wedding there, and it was the perfect showcase of why this venue is such a dream. The autumn color palette: those deep reds, burnt oranges, and earthy greens looked unreal against the lush, rustic backdrop of the property.

Thoughtful DIY Details with Heart


One of my favorite parts of the wedding was Maddie and Tim’s DIY touches. They made their own table numbers out of vinyl records and had custom matchbooks and disposable cameras scattered around. It felt so them. That’s the beauty of River Garden, it’s a blank canvas that really lets couples own the space.

Seamless Ceremony-to-Reception Flow


From a photography standpoint, the flow of the day was seamless. Everything is close together, which meant no stressful transitions for the couple or their guests. It also gave us plenty of time for portraits without feeling like we were dragging them away from the party. And more importantly, the guests were able to go from the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception space without worrying about parking, traffic, or walking too far. Keeping everything on site is especially handy if the timeline ever runs behind.

So Much Photo Variety in One Location


River Garden offers an incredible amount of variety for portraits, all within a very short walking distance. In just a few minutes, we can move from romantic garden paths to open grassy spaces, textured walls, charming bridges, and cozy tucked-away corners. This means couples get a diverse gallery of images without being pulled away from their guests for long stretches of time. Maddie and Tim’s portraits felt relaxed and fun, and we were able to capture a wide range of looks without ever leaving the venue.

A Day Full of Emotion, Energy, and Joy


Maddie and Tim’s joy was absolutely contagious, especially on the dance floor. Seeing them cut loose to HOT TO GO! and The Time Warp was pure gold. That’s exactly what I live for: the unfiltered, real moments that tell the real story of your day.
