The Thursday Club Wedding Photography: Elsi & Mauricio’s Coastal Wedding in San Diego


Not every San Diego wedding comes with bright sunshine, and that’s exactly what made Elsi and Mauricio’s day so special. Their gloomy June afternoon created soft, romantic light that carried beautifully through every part of their celebration, from the church ceremony to coastal portraits and a lively reception at The Thursday Club.


With light pink and white details, delicate baby’s breath, and a relaxed oceanfront atmosphere, their wedding felt elegant, intimate, and full of heart.

Getting Ready by the Water


Elsi began her day getting ready with her bridesmaids at a cozy Airbnb by the water. The calm coastal setting paired perfectly with the soft, overcast skies, creating a peaceful and intimate start to the day.


Meanwhile, Mauricio met up with his groomsmen at the church, where the anticipation started to build as guests began to arrive. These separate getting-ready moments always bring a unique energy, quiet excitement before everything comes together.

A Bright and Airy Church Ceremony


Their ceremony took place in a beautiful church filled with natural light and soaring ceilings, creating a space that felt both grand and welcoming.


Even with the cloudy skies outside, the interior glowed. Making for a ceremony that felt warm, emotional, and deeply meaningful. Surrounded by family and friends, Elsi and Mauricio exchanged vows in a setting that balanced elegance with intimacy.

Coastal Portraits at Sunset Cliffs


After the ceremony, we made a quick stop at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park for couple portraits.


The overcast weather gave the cliffs a dramatic, moody feel, perfectly framing Elsi and Mauricio against the ocean and San Diego’s iconic rock formations. These quick portraits captured a completely different side of the day—cinematic, coastal, and full of movement from the ocean breeze.

Portraits & a Special Guest at The Thursday Club


Back at The Thursday Club, we took advantage of the venue’s charm for a few more portraits before the reception began.


One of the most memorable (and unexpected) moments? The venue’s resident tabby cat, Debbie, made an appearance and even joined in for a few photos. It added such a fun and personal touch to the gallery, one of those little moments that makes a wedding day truly unique.

A Light & Bright Ballroom Reception


The reception took place inside the venue’s light and airy ballroom, which was beautifully styled with baby’s breath and white roses, along with soft touches of light pink throughout.

The clean, elegant design paired perfectly with the natural light filling the room, creating a space that felt fresh, romantic, and inviting.

Throughout the evening, guests moved seamlessly between the indoor reception and the outdoor patio overlooking the ocean, enjoying the fresh coastal air and incredible views.

A Night Full of Heartfelt & Fun Moments


As the celebration continued, the evening unfolded with a perfect mix of emotional and playful moments:

  • A beautiful first dance in the glowing ballroom
  • Heartfelt speeches that brought both laughter and tears
  • The always-entertaining shoe game, keeping guests engaged and smiling
  • A lively dance floor that kept the energy high


And of course, one detail guests won’t forget, the delicious chocolate cake, which was just as much a highlight as the dancing.

A Sparkly Ending by the Ocean


To close out the night, Elsi and Mauricio made their exit surrounded by a sparkly pom pom send-off, creating a fun and glowing finale to an already unforgettable day. It was the perfect ending: celebratory, joyful, and full of movement, just like the rest of their wedding.
